What is Datasite?

On its company page, Datasite describes itself as a global M&A technology company that provides software and virtual data rooms for complex transactions. The Datasite Diligence data room is built for M&A due diligence and supports the sell side. For the buy side, Datasite names its Datasite Acquire product. According to the product page, the platform runs on Microsoft Azure, and Datasite quotes prices individually for every transaction.

According to a Datasite press release from June 3, 2025, CapVest Partners LLP is Datasite’s controlling shareholder. CapVest describes itself as an international private equity firm, and its announcement of the Datasite acquisition from 2020 names Minneapolis, USA, as the headquarters.

On data location, Datasite’s FAQ states that customer data from projects in North and South America is stored in the US, and customer data from projects in EMEA, APAC and Australia in the EU. According to the same page, the locations of the servers for the language models follow this split. The country within the EU and Switzerland as a storage location are not stated publicly.

On its page about AI in the data room, Datasite lists these features, among others:

  • Enhanced Index creates the data room’s folder structure from a short description of the deal, and Enhanced Insights shows the documents by AI-generated categories, with counts and the latest uploads.
  • Semantic Search searches by meaning rather than only by exact keywords.
  • The Blueflame AI assistant drafts answers in the Q&A, helps with navigation and searches the entire data room. Its answers reference the source.
  • Enhanced Review extracts key data from several documents and puts it side by side.
  • Summarize creates summaries of documents, and Explain This explains individual clauses, terms or figures in plain language.
  • Redaction AI detects and redacts more than 120 types of personal and sensitive data.
  • Full Document Translation translates entire documents into more than 17 languages and keeps the formatting.
  • Similar Questions spots duplicate questions from buyers so earlier answers can be reused.
  • Datasite MCP connects external AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Blueflame AI to the data room.

According to Datasite, investment banks, corporations and their corporate development teams, private equity firms, law firms and other advisors use the platform for M&A and complex transactions. The FAQ on languages says the interface is localized in 14 languages, including German, French and Italian. According to Datasite, its Datasite Assist support is available around the clock in more than 20 languages.

What is majiq?

majiq is an AI due diligence platform from Switzerland. majiq reads every document in the data room, checks it in context and writes the due diligence report. Every finding is backed by evidence from your documents and cross-checked by two AI reviewers. You accept or reject the AI’s suggested changes and share the finished report as a link or PDF.

Sellers, bidders and specialists work in the same data room. Each role only sees the documents you release, you decide whether bidders can download, and every view and every download is logged. You upload the documents as they are, including whole folders or ZIP files. majiq assigns every document to its area, cross-checks contracts against financial statements and financial statements against the plan, and recalculates revenue, EBITDA and net debt.

The database and files are stored in Switzerland, with hosting in Zürich. Text recognition and AI analysis run in the EU, and your documents don’t train any AI models, as set out in the contract. The sample report shows what a report looks like, and all features are listed under Features.

When does Datasite fit, and when does majiq?

Datasite fits when a data room for a complex transaction is the priority. For this, Datasite names separate products for the sell side and the buy side, an interface in 14 languages, support around the clock in more than 20 languages and AI features for work in the data room, such as an automatically generated index, answer drafts in the Q&A, redaction and translation.

majiq fits when the review itself is the focus: when you want to know what the documents say and where contracts, financial statements and the plan don’t match. majiq reads every document, recalculates revenue, EBITDA and net debt, and writes the due diligence report, in which every statement leads to its source. And majiq fits when the database and files need to be stored in Switzerland.
