AI tools for due diligence compared
There are three kinds of AI tools for due diligence. Providers of virtual data rooms with AI features include Ansarada, Datasite, Drooms, Imprima and Intralinks, and providers of AI platforms for legal review include Fusewise, Harvey, LegalFly and Luminance. The third kind is due diligence platforms like majiq that combine the data room, analysis and report.
In short
- Data rooms with AI features help with sorting, search, translation, redaction and Q&A.
- AI platforms for legal review read contracts and other legal documents and check them, for example against a playbook.
- Due diligence platforms like majiq combine the data room, analysis and report, with evidence for every finding.
- Where the data is stored differs by provider. With some, you choose the region yourself.
What kinds of tools are there?
- Virtual data rooms with AI features. The data room is the core: the seller provides the documents, and bidders read them and ask questions. AI helps with sorting, search, summaries, translation, redaction and Q&A. This group includes Ansarada, Datasite, Drooms, Imprima and Intralinks.
- AI platforms for legal review. They read contracts and other legal documents, extract details and check them, for example against a playbook, meaning a firm’s own standards for contract clauses. This group includes Fusewise, Harvey, LegalFly and Luminance.
- Due diligence platforms with data room, analysis and report. Sellers, bidders and specialists work in the same data room, and AI reviews the documents across all areas and writes the due diligence report. This group includes majiq.
The lines between them are not sharp. Data rooms also put details from several documents side by side, such as Enhanced Review at Datasite or Tabular Review at Drooms. Imprima also offers its AI without a data room, and Harvey’s document storage Vault lets teams work with external partners as well.

Ansarada
Ansarada describes itself as a virtual data room and deal management platform, from capital raising to M&A and due diligence. Ansarada has been part of Datasite since 2024 and, according to Ansarada, remains a separate brand with its own product. The AI assistant Ask AiDA answers questions about the documents in the data room, AI-Sort sorts uploaded documents into the folder structure, AI-Redact redacts sensitive information, AI-Translate translates, and AI-Predict uses the activity in a deal to predict which bidder is likely to win. The customer chooses the storage location when creating the data room, with options including Zürich, Frankfurt, Dublin and Northern California; without a choice, the data is stored in Sydney. For the Essentials plan, the pricing page states “US data storage.”

Datasite
Datasite describes itself as a global M&A technology company offering software and virtual data rooms for complex transactions; its data room Datasite Diligence is built for due diligence. Its AI features create the folder structure from a short description of the deal (Enhanced Index), summarize documents (Summarize), put key data from several documents side by side (Enhanced Review) and redact more than 120 types of personal and sensitive data (Redaction AI). The AI assistant Blueflame AI search drafts answers in the Q&A and searches the entire data room, with references to the source. According to Datasite, customer data from projects in North and South America is stored in the US, and data from projects in EMEA, APAC and Australia in the EU; the servers for the language models follow the same split.

Drooms
Drooms describes itself as a European due diligence platform with virtual data rooms, founded in 2001. Its AI features go by the name Drooms Intelligence: the AI Assistant answers questions across the entire data room or selected documents with source references and points out contradictory terms, and Tabular Review turns documents such as leases and energy performance certificates into a table. Drooms also lists classification, information extraction, reporting, indexing, translation and redaction. On data location, Drooms states “European data hosting in Germany”; the page on data protection and IT security names processing exclusively in Germany or Switzerland.

Fusewise
Fusewise is an AI platform for legal due diligence in M&A. According to Fusewise, it reviews a data room and produces a red flag report, organized by area of law, jurisdiction and impact on the deal. A separate AI agent handles each area of law, every finding leads to its source with one click, and uncertain points go to a human for review. The FAQ names Swiss law as the legal basis today, with more jurisdictions to follow. The security page states that the data is stored in Switzerland and processing runs in the EU.

Harvey calls itself “the operating system for legal and professional services” and names contract analysis, due diligence, compliance and litigation among its areas; it addresses law firms and in-house legal teams. Its document storage Vault holds up to 100,000 documents per vault; Review tables put key data points from thousands of documents side by side in a table, and questions to the table summarize or compare. According to Harvey, it offers three regions: a standard region with processing in the US, the EU and Switzerland, an EU region with processing in the EU and Switzerland, and a region in Australia.

Imprima calls itself an “AI-Powered Virtual Data Room and M&A Due Diligence Platform” and has offered a virtual data room since 2001. Its AI tools are designed for legal, real estate and M&A due diligence: Smart Q&A finds matching documents, highlights the supporting paragraphs and drafts answers, and Smart Review searches the entire data room for clauses that need legal or commercial review. Imprima also offers summaries, indexing, redaction and translation. The FAQ says the AI is also available without the data room, and the data room page states that the data is stored in the EU.

Intralinks
SS&C Intralinks offers technology and services for banking, M&A, alternative investments and capital markets and is part of SS&C Technologies. For M&A, it offers the data room VDRPro and the deal platform DealCentre AI. The platform’s AI assistant, Link, summarizes documents, extracts clauses, flags warning signs (“red flags”) and personal data and, together with the request list, shows which documents are missing; Ask Link answers questions with page references to the source. Intralinks names data centers in the US, the UK, Germany, Japan and Australia. On AI, Intralinks states that it runs its own language models and that customer data does not leave the data room.

LegalFly
LegalFly calls itself “The legal operating system for in-house teams” and addresses legal departments in companies, especially in regulated industries. For due diligence, it offers Multi Review, which lets you import whole data rooms from SharePoint or a document management system, apply a playbook to all documents, flag missing clauses, deviations and outliers, and move key fields with source links into a structured data set. According to the security page, documents are anonymized before AI processing; LegalFly runs as SaaS, as a single tenant in the Azure region the customer prefers, or in the customer’s own environment. For the AI providers, the Trust Center lists the EU and the US as available data locations.

Luminance
Luminance calls itself a “Contract Intelligence Platform”: specialized legal models are meant to understand contracts in context and surface risks, obligations and commercial opportunities for legal, procurement, finance and other departments. In the repository, the assistant Lumi checks up to 10,000 contracts at once against the customer’s own playbooks, answers with source references and links related contracts and amendments. Hosting runs on AWS, and according to the Trust Center, the customer chooses the region; the list of subprocessors includes the EU and the UK as regions. For additional generative models (“Additional Generative Models”), the same list names OpenAI with processing in the US.

majiq
majiq is an AI due diligence platform from Switzerland. Sellers, bidders and specialists work in the same data room; each role only sees the documents you release, and every view and every download is logged. majiq reads every document, cross-checks contracts, financial statements and the plan against each other and writes the due diligence report, covering legal, tax and financial. Every finding is backed by evidence from your documents and cross-checked by two AI reviewers. The database and files are stored in Switzerland, text recognition and AI analysis run in the EU, and your documents don’t train any AI models, as set out in the contract.
All features: majiq features
What should you look for when choosing?
- Evidence. Does every AI statement lead to its source in the document, and can you read the sentence there?
- Data location. Where are the database and files stored, and where does the AI run? For lawyers and accountants, professional secrecy also applies.
- No training. Does the contract rule out your documents being used to train AI models?
- Roles and audit log. Does each role only see what it is allowed to see, and is every access logged?
- Coverage. Does the tool review legal, tax and financial matters, or only contracts?
- Language. Does the AI read the documents in every language of your deal, and in which language do you get answers and the report?
What the providers state publicly is in the table and the sections above. What is binding is the contract, including the list of subprocessors.
Frequently asked questions
Which AI tool fits my due diligence?
That depends on what you need at the end. In a sale with several bidders, the data room is the core, and data rooms with AI features help with sorting, search and Q&A there. AI platforms for legal review are built for reviewing large numbers of contracts. If the goal is a due diligence report across legal, tax and financial, with evidence for every finding, look at a platform that combines the data room, analysis and report, such as majiq.
Where is the data stored with AI tools for due diligence?
That differs by provider; the table above shows what each one states. With some, you choose the region yourself, for example with Ansarada, Harvey or Luminance. Ask about two locations: where the database and files are stored and where the AI runs. With majiq, the database and files are stored in Switzerland, with hosting in Zürich, and text recognition and AI analysis run in the EU.
Can I connect an AI tool to my existing data room?
Yes, in different ways. Datasite connects external AI tools to the data room via MCP, an open interface for AI assistants, and at Ansarada, AI assistants read the document index via MCP. Intralinks uses Connect to link third-party AI tools to its deal platform. LegalFly imports whole data rooms from SharePoint or a document management system. In majiq, you upload the documents as they are, including whole folders or ZIP files, and majiq files every document in the right area.
